UPDATE 

THE TOWN OF WAPPINGER STATE OF EMERGENCY has been lifted as 95% of our roads are now open.

As of 3:30pm on Monday afternoon, Central Hudson reports that 33,000 customers are still without power after the largest Central Hudson outage in their history.

 In the Town of Wappinger, 2200 Central Hudson customers are still without power. Central Hudson is reporting that power is expected to be restored to the affected Town of Wappinger residents by 10pm on Wednesday, however, the majority will be restored today and tomorrow.

Residents are reminded not approach or touch downed wires. Always assume the wires are live electric wires and contact Central Hudson at 452-2700 to report.

Residents should not heat their homes with an unvented heater, gas range, or any similar appliance, including outdoor gas grills, as they can produce deadly carbon monoxide.

Residents utilizing generators are reminded to make sure generators are operated in a vented, dry location, away from the building.
