Where does registration take place?
- Most registration dates occur at the
Town Hall on Middlebush Road located
across from Wappingers Junior High
School. Please see the Registration page
for more information.
2) How do I know if I am a resident
of the Town of Wappinger?
- You are a resident of the Town of
Wappinger if you pay property tax to the
Town of Wappinger. For further
information about street addresses and
residency please contact the Recreation
Office at 297-0720.
3) If I am not a resident of the Town
of Wappinger can I still participate in
the Town Programs?
- Yes. Non-residents may participate in
all of the Town Programs except the
Summer Playground Program and the learn
to swim program. Non-residents pay a an
additional $15.00 surcharge per program
for which you register.
4) My child is participating in more
than one summer program. Can I write one
check?
- No. Each summer program must be paid
for with a separate check. Checks must
be made payable to the “Town of
Wappinger”.
5) Can my child be a part of the
Learn to Swim Program and the Summer
Playground Program at the same time?
- Yes! Children with limited swim
experience are encouraged to take the
Learn to Swim Program. When the swim
program ends at 12:30pm, children may
return to their home playground camps
for an afternoon of fun. Personal
Transportation is required to and from
the Learn to Swim Program.
6) If my child decides after
registration that he/she doesn’t want to
attend a particular program will my
money be refunded?
- If you contact the Recreation Director
prior to the first day of a camp, then
yes, your money will be refunded. You
can obtain your refund on any Tuesday
night at the Schlathaus Park Recreation
Office between the hours of 6:00 and
7:30pm.
- If, however, you contact the
Recreation Director after a program has
already begun, the Director must bring
your case to the Recreation Commission.
The Recreation Commission will rule on
your case and all decisions of the
Commission are final.
7) Is there a maximum number of
children allowed in each camp?
- Yes, and no. There is no maximum
number assigned to the Summer Playground
Program. There is, however, a limit to
the number of space for children wishing
to participate in the specialized summer
programs such as Basketball, Golf,
Tennis, Fishing, Learn to Swim,
Babysitting, Summer Musical Theater Camp
and Summer Guitar Lessons. Register
early to guarantee your spot.
- Waiting lists will be developed as
programs reach capacity.
8) How will I know if a program is
cancelled?
- For your convenience, there are three
ways to find program cancellations.
a) All
cancellations will be posted on the Town
of Wappinger Web-Site.
